"And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance" -Lee Ann Womack
Joshua & Lauren met in English Class at Western Oregon University. They were dating 2 1/2 years before the proposal. He proposed at the top of Spanish Peak, on the Pacific Crest Trail, on her 22nd birthday. She is a computer scientist, he's a special educator.
They chose Ron's Pond because they wanted a wedding in a beautiful, secluded, quiet, and peaceful outdoor setting. Ron's Pond certainly delivers that! It was our first time shooting at this venue and we cannot WAIT to go back! The grooms father married them and it was a tear-jerker for all of us. We teased Joshua and Lauren a bit on their wedding day that Joshua was the most smitten groom ever, but quite honestly, it was true. Their adoration for each other was glowing and they had the most joyful, carefree wedding day. Congratulation Lauren & Joshua, we were so honored to be a part of your love story!

Kyle & Sheila met while working at Creekside Golf Course In 2008. After a few years of friendship, Kyle and Sheila started dating in 2013. Kyle proposed in May, 2015.
Their vision for their wedding was a rustic barn setting. Kyle and Sheila chose the wedding venue in large part because of the quaint feel of the barn and because Kyle loved the miniature horses and goats. The bridal party consisted of family and long time friends. Sheila met most of her bridesmaids in college and Kyle had worked with three of the groomsmen at Creekside Golf Course (where they met).
The amount of work and effort these two put into their beautiful wedding, featuring home brewed beer as a table centerpiece/party favors was evident. Although Mother Nature had her way with an insanely stormy day, their families pitched in and made the best of it, and we loved the intimate feel of their sweet barn vow exchange.
We enjoyed every minute of their wedding day, and we're pretty sure they had the MOST FUN bridal party ever!

Justin and Amy were married in September at Adeline Farm. The big red barn was the perfect place to dance the night away!
Justin and Amy made their ceremony unique by planting a tree instead of the traditional unity candle or sand. We love that!
Amy's dress might be the most gorgeous dress we have ever seen. We ended the night with an Indian Summer sunset and it did not disappoint!

Bree and Ryan tied the knot at Vanderbeck Valley Farm in October of 2016. Their love story is a sweet one... complete with love notes exchanged while getting ready and a milk and cookie bar to end the night. The whole day was perfection!

We love it when our couples incorporate those special little details in their weddings that tell their unique love story. Patrick and Lindsay did an amazing job of this! We had the pleasure of shooting both their engagement photos and their wedding and boy did they hit it out of the park (see what we did there?)!
This sweet couple met playing softball. When Patrick proposed to Lindsay, he did it in the spot where they had their first conversation- the softball field parking lot. They even chose that very field as the backdrop for their engagement photos!
So naturally, they carried that theme into their wedding. Check out the amazing softball-signing guest book from their special day.
The details didn't stop there! How amazing are these custom Nike's the bride had made in honor of her new last name?
And this floral crown she wore was to die for!
We were all heart-eyes for that bursting color combination of sage green, dusty lavender and plum purple. Just stunning.
Boy were we ever feeling the love with this huge bridal party! There were four groomsman and 12 bridesmaids, who worked hard at decorating this beautiful day for Patrick and Lindsay.
And who could forget their sweet golden retriever, Sly, who played a special part of their special day.
Thanks to Lindsay and Patrick! It was an honor to be part of this gorgeous day!

It's National Beer Day! Also known as "every day" in Oregon. Seriously, beer is kind of a big deal here Northwest, so it isn't a surprise that you can find delicious craft beer paired with just about everything here.
In Portland, you can drink beer and pedal a bar-shaped bike from brewery to brewery with 12 of your closest friends. In Salem, you can find your center and a delicious ale at a yoga and beer class. So it's only natural that we Oregonians would turn to our beloved breweries when it's time to get hitched!
McMenamins owns and operates an eclectic mix of breweries, pubs, hotels, music venues and more, and have saved several gorgeous historic properties along the way. Many of these properties have event space for weddings of all shapes and sizes. They offer full onsite catering, featuring their handcrafted spirits, wines and, of course, beer!
We have been so lucky as to capture many special moments at several McMenamins locations, and National Beer Day seemed like a great day to share some of our favorites with you.
We are so excited to share another love story with you today! Meet Colten and Michelle! This sweet couple met on a blind date through a mutual friend. The sparks flew so high on that first date that Colten declared to his matchmaking friend he was going to marry that girl!
After a second date with each of their dogs in tow, Michelle said they were "attached at the hip!" Soon they moved in together, and rescued their dane-lab mix, Keira.
Colten followed through with his declaration exactly one year after rescuing Keira, who carried the engagement ring to Michelle on her collar. Of course Keira will be the ring bearer at their vineyard wedding this summer.
We had so much fun with them on this dreamy sunset engagement session. And oh what a romantic, rustic setting! Congratulations Michelle and Colten! We can't wait to capture your special day!
Over the summer, we had the joy of introducing you to Courtney and Scottie. A spectacular couple, the happiness they feel when they are with each other just seeps from every ounce of them. They are a joy to photograph.
As we wind down from the busiest season for our business and look forward to the New Year, we thought we'd share their happy. Their wedding at McMenamins Edgefield was a party - a true celebration of how their love started and blossomed, and every guest there had so much exuberance for what their future holds.
Hats off to Courtney and Scottie, as well as all of our 2015 couples, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
It's been a little soggy here in the great state of Oregon...yes, soggier than usual. The reality is flooding in our area has been a bit dangerous (and one of us was actually bailing out our crawlspace the other night...), so we certainly hope that everyone is keeping safe. But we still couldn't help but chuckle at the photo in the news of a guy sight-seeing his way through the flooded Wal-Mart parking lot in a canoe.
And yes, this is related to our wedding photography because WE HAVE A PHOTO OF A COUPLE IN A CANOE! Not only do we have the photo, it's one of our favorite images we've ever captured.
Benjamin and Annie (who are at Bridal Veil Lakes here, not a flooded parking lot...), had a sweet wedding this past summer that brought them back from Abu Dhabi to celebrate their union with their families.
Congratulations, Ben and Annie!
"Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world." - Marilyn Monroe
Conquering the world - or at least your wedding day - is a lot of work. You need shoes! Shoes that are fun, quirky, classy, strappy, flat, boots, heels...basically anything goes for wedding shoes, and here are some of our favorites we've seen!
We're starting something new - Five on Friday! Tune into this blog on most Fridays and find "five fabulous photos" that showcase a few special details from many of the weddings we've captured. One week it might be all about the dessert table, another it might be some of our favorite reception candids. Though getting those perfect bridal portraits is the best part of what we do, it's the details about the wedding that make us enjoy every minute of the job.
This week, we decided to showcase flower girls. Everyone on the HHWP team happens to have a sweet young (and perhaps sassy) daughter who has just started kindergarten or first grade this year. Consequently, we're all kind of teary over photos of adorable little girls, wondering where the time went as we ship our beauties off to school for the day. So while these photos might not make you cry, they'll certainly make you smile since the cuteness of these little gals dressed to the nines is almost too much to handle!
Ok ok, so there were a few more than five showcased above...but sometimes it's hard to choose from so much cuteness! Happy Friday!
