Adam + Jackie: A Love Story

Jackie and Adam celebrated their April wedding in a serene and intimate little venue. It was our first time photographing at the Hopkins Demonstration Forest in Oregon City, and we fell in love! The weather could not have been more perfect (it doesn't happen often in April in Oregon!). The theme of their wedding was semi-rustic with a dash of sparkle and shades of purple. They chose to let the incredible Oregon backdrop do all the talking, and it was a great decision. The sweeping views and tall trees and sounds of nature all contributed to the perfect wedding. Our favorite part of the day? Watching Adam serenade his new bride during the reception! Swoon! What bride doesn't dream of a romantic moment like that?

Mike + Dianne: The Beginning

Dianne and Mike came to us through a previous couple of ours, which is so exciting! We love when our couples refer us to their friends!

As soon as you meet Dianne and Mike, you instantly feel relaxed and comfortable, and their sweetness together was so fun to watch. They are planning an intimate wedding at McMenamins Kennedy school in May and the day just can't come soon enough for us! We were so thankful that they were so flexible and willing to wait for a beautiful sunny day to do their engagement photos, and boy did it pay off. Oregon sure likes to surprise us with the weather!

Chad + Brittny: The Beginning

Brittny and Chad have been so sweet and patient as we have had to reschedule their session due to terrible weather. Well, their patience paid off, as we had the warmest/sunniest afternoon we've had all winter!

Brittny and Chad actually hired us over the phone, as they live all the way in Olympia, Washington! Yesterday was our first chance to meet them and get to know them better.

We could tell right from the start how much these two love each other, and they are getting married at one of our favorite venues this September, Green Villa Barn in Independence! We loved that they choose bright colors for their session, it really made them stand out from the lovely scenery. After having so much fun with these guys yesterday, we are even more excited about their upcoming wedding.

Denny + Paige: A Love Story

The Garden in the Woods is a magical place and was the perfect backdrop for Denny and Paige's whimsical wedding.

Paige and Denny had so many fun and personal details to their wedding, including incorporating adorable DIY animal themed center pieces.

Paige's highschool ceramics teacher married them and used Dr. Suess's
"The Sneetches" as inspiration and for a really great vow holder (is that a thing?  It is now!).

Check out the beautiful arch way where the ceremony took place!  The groom let us know that they hand threaded the blue garland for hours and hours.  It was worth it!

We love the brides unique hair and stunning sense of style and the groom is looking dapper in his paisley tie!

Thompson Family: Twice the Smiles, Twice the Love...

We have photographed Leanne and her son Tabor for many years... we also got to be there for Leanne's wedding to James, and most recently, photograph their latest additions, twins Silas and Saul! We are so honored to be a part of their lives and watch as this amazing family grows!

Five on Friday: He put a ring on it

Its Friday! Woohoo!

Right after December, February is the next most popular month to get engaged, and we are loving seeing all these beautiful engagement stories pop up in our news feeds! You'll also notice that rings aren't the only thing being featured below in our "5 on Friday", let's hear it for plaid! It's not a trend in Oregon, it's part of our lifestyle! If you got engaged this month, we want to hear about it!

Ryan + Bree: A Love Story

Bree and Ryan tied the knot at Vanderbeck Valley Farm in October of 2016.  Their love story is a sweet one...  complete with love notes exchanged while getting ready and a milk and cookie bar to end the night.  The whole day was perfection!

Of Love and Softball

We love it when our couples incorporate those special little details in their weddings that tell their unique love story.  Patrick and Lindsay did an amazing job of this!  We had the pleasure of shooting both their engagement photos and their wedding and boy did they hit it out of the park (see what we did there?)!

This sweet couple met playing softball. When Patrick proposed to Lindsay, he did it in the spot where they had their first conversation- the softball field parking lot. They even chose that very field as the backdrop for their engagement photos!

So naturally, they carried that theme into their wedding. Check out the amazing softball-signing guest book from their special day.

The details didn't stop there!  How amazing are these custom Nike's the bride had made in honor of her new last name?

And this floral crown she wore was to die for!

We were all heart-eyes for that bursting color combination of sage green, dusty lavender and plum purple.  Just stunning.

Boy were we ever feeling the love with this huge bridal party!  There were four groomsman and 12 bridesmaids, who worked hard at decorating this beautiful day for Patrick and Lindsay.

And who could forget their sweet golden retriever, Sly, who played a special part of their special day.

Thanks to Lindsay and Patrick!  It was an honor to be part of this gorgeous day!

Exciting News!

We have some exciting new developments to share with you today!  As small business owners, we strive to provide the best experience for our clients while simultaneously giving the best of ourselves to our families. If you have ever owned a small business or know someone who does, you know that it can be hard to find balance.  We have been trying to think of ways to achieve that balance and guess what?  We think we figured it out!

When we are shooting weddings, our couples are getting two seasoned photographers with years of experience working together. There is a very natural flow to our joint sessions.  Plus you are getting two unique perspectives and images that you just couldn't get with only one photographer.

So why not apply this strategy to more of our sessions?  Recently we we started shooting our mini sessions together and we realized, hey, this really works!  We gave our clients the best experience and images, and honestly, our photos have never looked better!

It allowed us to have one person posing your kiddos, tickling them, blowing bubbles, singing and dancing and overall getting those genuine smiles that we always strive for.... while the other person was snapping away. We got some great client feedback, and we also got to take turns snuggling your little people, so there's that bonus!

On the back end of things, we are splitting our workload and making ourselves more available to our families. Win win!

We want you to know we are not raising our prices because there are two of us!  We are simply giving you twice the attention and making your investment go even further.

We are also improving the way we deliver your gorgeous images to you. While we will still provide you with the digital images, we are also working hard to make sure those memories are printed. Your life is busy. We get it. Who has time for all that? If you join one of our mini session events, we will offer rock bottom special prices on prints, canvases, and custom designed lay-flat albums. Truly, they are gorgeous and our clients can't get enough. Check out this recent note we got from a client:

Check out the images from our most recent mini sessions and see why we love what we do when we do it together!

Want to know more? Join our exclusive mini session group. You'll be the first to know about upcoming events and special offers. We are committed to doing 1-2 mini sessions together every month, but they are selling out FAST, so take a look at your calendar and let's make a date!

With Love,

Heidi & Heather

Cheers, Oregon! It's National Beer Day!

It's National Beer Day!  Also known as "every day" in Oregon. Seriously, beer is kind of a big deal here Northwest, so it isn't a surprise that you can find delicious craft beer paired with just about everything here.

In Portland, you can drink beer and pedal a bar-shaped bike from brewery to brewery with 12 of your closest friends.  In Salem, you can find your center and a delicious ale at  a yoga and beer class.  So it's only natural that we Oregonians would turn to our beloved breweries when it's time to get hitched!

McMenamins owns and operates an eclectic mix of breweries, pubs, hotels, music venues and more, and have saved several gorgeous historic properties along the way.  Many of these properties have event space for weddings of all shapes and sizes.  They offer full onsite catering, featuring their handcrafted spirits, wines and, of course, beer!

Colten + Michelle

We are so excited to share another love story with you today!  Meet Colten and Michelle! This sweet couple met on a blind date through a mutual friend.  The sparks flew so high on that first date that Colten declared to his matchmaking friend he was going to marry that girl!

After a second date with each of their dogs in tow, Michelle said they were "attached at the hip!"  Soon they moved in together, and rescued their dane-lab mix, Keira.

Colten followed through with his declaration exactly one year after rescuing Keira, who carried the engagement ring to Michelle on her collar. Of course Keira will be the ring bearer at their vineyard wedding this summer.

We had so much fun with them on this dreamy sunset engagement session.  And oh what a romantic, rustic setting!  Congratulations Michelle and Colten! We can't wait to capture your special day!

All you need is love...

And a little sunshine! We love when our couples opt for a late Fall or early winter engagement shoot, and we love it even more when the weather cooperates and we get gorgeous light like this! Tessa and Matt braved the chilly temperature and we lucked out with dreamy sunlight. We can't wait for their July wedding!

As we sit here on the last day of 2015, we can't help but be filled with joy and gratitude at all that we were able to do this year, and all the weddings we attended and photographed. Each and every wedding was different, special, beautiful, and heart warming. We wanted to take a quick jaunt down memory lane and look back at a few of our favorite moments over the year. Happy New Year!
